Ozzy Osbourne won't sing at his son Jack's wedding.

Ozzy's daughter Kelly Osbourne explained that the kind of rock the Black Sabbath lead singer would perform isn't suitable for the romantic nuptials.

Kelly's sibling is expected to wed fiancée Lisa Stelly this year after a whirlwind romance. The couple got engaged after only four months and announced Lisa's pregnancy shortly after.

"No," Kelly told US publication E! Online when asked if her dad would sing at the happy event. "I don't really think rock music is quite appropriate for a wedding!"

The 27-year-old can't contain her excitement and wells up every time she sees her younger brother.

Kelly is incredibly proud that Jack has turned his life around after struggling with addiction.

The 26-year-old has been sober since 2003. Before his stint at rehab, Jack went into a downward spiral consuming drink and taking OxyContin pills.

"He makes fun of me because every time I'm around him I get teary eyed now," the Fashion Police host admitted.

"He's like, 'Stop it! Go Away. Stop being dramatic. Get out of my face.' Because I'm like, 'I'm so proud of you. You're moving into a new house. You're getting married. You're having a baby. You have the most amazing fiancée ever!'"

Big Day Out NZ has had its day

The Auckland leg of the Big Day Out has been going for 18 years and organiser Ken West says it has been incredible, but now it must come to an end.

West says the compounded stress of the day in Auckland on a Friday and then on the Gold Coast on a Sunday has taken its toll.

“In terms of what has been put on the line every year for Auckland, flying everything through, it has felt the risk of taking it on next year would be too great,” he says.

For music fans this end of an era is surreal. The Big Day Out has been an integral component of the New Zealand festival scene, but West says getting past the inaugural Big Day Out was odd.

“I had never dreamt this event would go for 20 years,” he says.

“I’m happy I don’t have to think about it [the decision to cancel the Auckland Big Day Out] anymore, because I’ve been thinking about it for a long time.”

“I have found over that time I wouldn’t have swapped any part of it.

“I love New Zealand audiences, and I mean that, it’s not a spin, otherwise I wouldn’t have kept doing it.”

WILL.I.AM UNVEILS IAMAUTO CAR

will.i.am is getting behind the wheel of a new business venture. The enterprising Black Eyed Peas frontman debuted his new automobile on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”

The white futuristic vehicle, which he calls IAMAUTO, was developed to create more jobs in the East Los Angeles neighborhood where he grew up.

“I’m a big technology freak and a geek and I invested my money in building my own vehicle ’cause I want to bring jobs to the ghetto that I come from,” explained will. “I invested in making a demo to start the Black Eyed Peas, now I want to invest to have a car company in the neighborhood where I come from.”

The vehicle was built using OEM parts from Chrysler and features a Beats by Dr. Dre sound system. “It’s sick, it’s really fresh,” said will, who will drop his solo album #willpower later this year.

Dragon will roar at AmeriCARna

Glenn Shorrock, the original voice of Australia's Little River Band, and Mark Williams, the front man for legendary rock band Dragon, will perform at the TSB Stadium on February 23.

Americarna is a huge celebration that is based around American vehicles.

Americarna 2012 will bring up to 600 cars and some 2,000 entrants together to enjoy organised cruises throughout Taranaki and the opportunity to showcase their vehicles to the locals.

Over four days entrants will be spoiled with entertainment, food, shopping and great Taranaki hospitality. Including a concert on Thursday night at the TSB Stadium which is opposite registration. Glenn Shorrock and his band. Glenn is the “original” voice of Little River Band. They will play all LRB hits along with some Beatles numbers and a number of other hits that will have us all up going for it. Supporting act is kiwi Mark Williams who has had No1 hits in NZ.

As for the talent, Shorrock is the singer behind hit songs including Help Is On Its Way, Reminiscing, Cool Change and Lonesome Loser and will be backed by his own world-class band during Americarna.

Williams, who comes from Northland but has ties with Taranaki, Tainui and Tuwharetoa is a member of New Zealand's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Welcome to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Guns N' Roses & Red Hot Chilli Peppers

The seminal rock band of the late 1980s and early '90s, best known for hits like "Welcome to the Jungle," ''Sweet Child O' Mine" and "November Rain," leads the 2012 class of inductees announced on Wednesday. Also making the cut is the hip-hop trio Beastie Boys; rockers the Red Hot Chili Peppers; the late singer-songwriter Laura Nyro; Donovan; and influential British rock group the Small Faces/the Faces, which included Rod Stewart and Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood.

Nyro, who wrote such hits as the 5th Dimension's "Wedding Bell Blues" and Blood Sweat & Tears' "When I Die," is the only female act to make it this time around. The hall passed on Donna Summer, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Heart and Rufus with Chaka Khan, who were on the ballot for 2012.

But it wasn't just women who were denied entry into the rock hall for next year. Voters also passed on hip-hop pioneers Eric B. & Rakim, War, the Cure and the Spinners.

Guns N' Roses blazed on the rock scene in 1987 with their official debut, "Appetite for Destruction." Fronted by siren-voiced singer Axl Rose, with Slash and Izzy Stradlin on guitars, Duff McKagan on bass and Steven Adler on drums, the group dominated music with its aggressive rock grooves. Early in their career they were criticized for lyrics in the song "One in a Million" deemed as homophobic, misogynistic and racist. They were also defined by their dysfunction, gleefully embodying the mantra of sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll.

The band sold millions and millions of albums, providing a sharp contrast to a pop world defined by the likes of Madonna and Michael Jackson. But the group's turmoil, often on display before the whole world, would cause the core to fall apart by 1996.

Their trajectory was the opposite of the Chili Peppers. Despite troubles that included the drug-related death of guitarist Hillel Slovak and the departure of guitarist John Frusciante, the band, fronted by Anthony Kiedis, with Flea on bass, drummer Chad Smith and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, released its 10th album, "I'm With You," this year.

Jimi Hendrix exploded our idea of what rock music could be: He manipulated the guitar, the whammy bar, the studio and the stage. On songs like "Machine Gun" or "Voodoo Chile," his instrument is like a divining rod of the turbulent Sixties – you can hear the riots in the streets and napalm bombs dropping in his "Star-Spangled Banner."

His playing was effortless. There's not one minute of his recorded career that feels like he's working hard at it – it feels like it's all flowing through him. The most beautiful song of the Jimi Hendrix canon is "Little Wing." It's just this gorgeous song that, as a guitar player, you can study your whole life and not get down, never get inside it the way that he does. He seamlessly weaves chords and single-note runs together and uses chord voicings that don't appear in any music book. His riffs were a pre-metal funk bulldozer, and his lead lines were an electric LSD trip down to the crossroads, where he pimp-slapped the devil.

There are arguments about who was the first guitar player to use feedback. It doesn't really matter, because Hendrix used it better than anyone; he took what was to become Seventies funk and put it through a Marshall stack, in a way that nobody's done since.

It's impossible to think of what Jimi would be doing now; he seemed like a pretty mercurial character. Would he be an elder statesman of rock? Would he be Sir Jimi Hendrix? Or would he be doing some residency off the Vegas Strip? The good news is his legacy is assured as the greatest guitar player of all time

Hawera's Push Bike Pub Crawl is going to be Giant this year

Hawera's controversial Push Bike Pub Crawl has gone full cycle with the South Taranaki District Council officially riding pillion for this year's event.

And as any good passenger would do, the council is pulling its weight by booking London-based Kiwi alternative rockers I Am Giant for a concert to coincide with the end of the December 17 ride.

For the last two years, Hawera police had tried to stop the event, which had grown from a ride attended by a few hundred locals to one pulling in thousands from around the country.

The event was regularly marred with boorish behaviour and drunkenness but police struggled to stop it, hindered by the fact it often had no official organiser.

Council's decision to come in on the act is acknowledgment the ride cannot be beaten and so must be joined.

I Am Giant were booked as headline act at the inaugural ALT Fest at the Hawera showgrounds after the council researched what sort of music pub crawlers would appreciate.

"We thought, if we were going to do this we're going to do it properly," council chief executive Craig Stevenson said.

It turns out council's economic and tourism manager Phil Waite had his finger on the pulse of what sort of rock band would fit the predominantly younger demographic.

"He did most of the work on pulling it together and researching it," Mr Stevenson said.

"Hopefully we'll get a really good crowd in there and bring a few people from out of the district."

To minimise how much ratepayers will have to pay, the ticket price has been set at $27.

People can bring their own alcohol into the R16 event but the amount and use will be controlled.

The pub crawl is an unofficial 30-year-old ride held on the Saturday before Christmas.

The rock-fest is the planned gathering after the ride in which riders cycle from Hawera to Normanby and back.

After police attempts to shut the bike ride down in recent years, the concept of a controlled gathering at the end is seen as a way to continue the ride.

Achtung Baby is the seventh studio album by rock band U2. It was produced by Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno, and was released on 19 November 1991 on Island Records.

After criticism of their 1988 release Rattle and Hum, U2 shifted direction to incorporate alternative rock, industrial, and electronic dance music influences into their sound. U2 began recording Achtung Baby in Berlin's Hansa Studios in October 1990. The sessions were fraught with conflict, as the band argued over their musical direction and the quality of their material. After weeks of tension and slow progress, the group made a breakthrough with the improvised writing of the song "One".

The Zoo TV Tour were central to the group's 1990s reinvention. The Zoo TV stage featured dozens of large video screens that showed visual effects, video clips from pop culture, and flashing text phrases. Live satellite link-ups, channel surfing, prank calls, and video confessionals were incorporated into the shows. Bono portrayed several characters he conceived, including "The Fly", "Mirror Ball Man", and "MacPhisto".

Achtung Baby is one of U2's most successful records. It spawned five hit singles, including "One", "Mysterious Ways", and "The Fly". The album has sold 18 million copies worldwide and won a Grammy Award in 1993 for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.

Not to be out done by Pearl jam's documentry PJ20. U2 have their own doco "From the Sky Down" about production of their 1991 album Achtung Baby. Rock 'n' Roll = Tequila

Mötley Crüe and Van Halen used to battle it out in record stores. But now, band members from each—Vince Neil and Sammy Hagar, respectively - are going head-to-head in liquor stores. Both legendary rockers have new gigs fronting their own tequilas.

Hagar, a rock ’n’ roll hall-of-famer, started Cabo Wabo Tequila back in 1996 - years before every celebrity had a liquor brand. The Red Rocker was looking for a house spirit for his bar in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and took the process seriously. “I went down and found the tequila and designed the bottle with friends,” he says “If I wanted a celebrity brand I would have named it Sammy Hagar’s Tequila.” He has little respect for many of the vanity projects on store shelves. “For someone just to put their name on a bottle, that’s crap,” he says. His hard work has paid off - the tequila is now available across the country and a few years ago, he sold 80 percent of the brand to Skyy Spirits for $80 million.

Neil, whose Tres Rios Tequila launched a few years ago, admits that he’s following in Hagar’s footsteps. “Sammy already has taken his brand to a whole other level,” he says. “I hope I can get to that level.” He’s on his way. By June Tres Rios will be available in more than 30 states, with duty free and Europe soon following. He’s also a big fan of tequila and, in true rocker fashion, likes to drink it straight from the bottle. “It tastes better that way,” he insists. (Look out this spring for Neil’s aptly named solo album, Tattoos and Tequila.)

For the moment, Hagar and Neil remain friends. “Vince is a cool guy,” says Hagar. “Anyone in their right mind would try to get into the liquor business.” And they also have a common competitor: Justin Timberlake, who launched 901 Silver Tequila last year. G3 to hit NZ

Not since Gtaranaki's Slash, Jennifer Batten (Jeff Beck, Michael Jackson,Natalie Cole) and Uli Jon Roth (Peter Gabriel, Tim Finn, Peter Frampton) have we had such legandary axe slayers under one roof!

The legendary G3 guitar gods - Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Steve Lukather - will bring their combined guitar pyrotechnics to New Zealand for the first time in March next year.

The two-and-a-half hour shows in Auckland and Wellington will feature individual sets by each guitarist with their own bands before joining Satriani and his band on stage for an all-star jam.

Since it began in 1996, versions of G3 have toured almost annually, selling out shows in the US, Europe, South America, Japan and Australia.

Founded by Satriani, who last performed in New Zealand at the G-TARanaki Festival in 2008, G3 has featured many celebrated guitarists including Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Yngwie Malmsteen, Robert Fripp, Adrian Legg and Eric Johnson.

Grammy award-winning Vai has sold more than 15 million albums worldwide and has worked with legends such as Frank Zappa, David Lee Roth and Whitesnake.

Founding member of Toto, Steve Lukather has a career spanning more than 35 years. As well as selling more than 30 million albums with the band, Lukather has played on more than 1500 other records, including Michael Jackson's Thriller and albums by Miles Davis, Elton John and Alice Cooper.

Snoop Dogg wants help growing his crops

Last month, Ian Neale from Newport earned a place in horticultural history by cultivating the 38.8kg (85.5lb) swede. Now Snoop Dogg want to know his secrets, to help grow his... umm... well crop.

Snoop did a shout out on youtube "Man, I want to tell you something, when I do my show in Cardiff, I want you to come backstage and see me because I do vegetation myself and I want to know your secret. So Ian Neale … come see your boy Snoop Dogg, I've got two tickets for you when I get to town. Ya dig?"

Mr Neale told Sky News Online: "I've never heard of him... I'm a country and western man myself." The 68-year-old has been growing oversized vegetables for 30 years, and has previously produced a beetroot weighing 23.5kg (51.5lbs) and cucumber that grew to 107cm (42.12in).

Mr Neale said he had decided to take Snoop up on his offer after a woman who works with him told him off for not accepting the free tickets.
"She nearly wiped the floor with me... So we're going to go along together," he said.

Shatner takes on Black Sabbath

Actor William Shatner has recorded a cover version of Black Sabbath's heavy metal track Iron Man for his new concept album.

The Star Trek icon is working on his third musical release, Searching for Major Tom, which features Shatner channelling David Bowie's Space Oddity character for his own take on a variety of space-themed songs, including tracks by The Police (Walking on the Moon), Frank Sinatra (Lost in the Stars) and Pink Floyd (Learning to Fly).

Shatner's version of Black Sabbath's 1970 hit has been given the thumbs up from Zakk Wylde, Ozzy Osbourne's former guitarist, who you can see collaborating with the veteran TV star on the track below.

Wylde says, "He's super cool. We had an awesome time working together."

Blood Sugar Sex Magik is the fifth studio album by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, released on September 24, 1991. Produced by Rick Rubin, it was the band's first record released on Warner Bros. Records.

The musical styles of Blood Sugar Sex Magik was first album to be produced by Rick Rubin. It differed notably from the techniques employed on the Chili Peppers' preceding album, Mother's Milk, They originaly wanted Rick to produce Mother's Milk.

Peaking at number three on the Billboard 200, the album has sold over seventeen million copies worldwide and was the Red Hot Chili Peppers' was their break through album to the world stage. Blood Sugar Sex Magik produced an array of hit singles including the hugely successful "Under the Bridge", "Give It Away", "Suck My Kiss" and "Breaking the Girl". Guitarist John Frusciante quit the band mid-tour in 1992 (until returning in 1998) due to his inability to cope with the album's popularity.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik is recognized as an influential and seminal component of the alternative rock explosion in the early 1990s.

20 Years today since Nirvana's Nevermind was released

NIRVANA, the trio comprised of Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl, hailed originally from a coastal fishing town in Washington and rose to become one of the most influential rock bands in history with irreverence, intense honesty and an overriding passion.

Nevermind is recognised as a rock classic, although on release Rolling Stone gave it a paltry three stars, the cultural shift it initiated was felt instantly on release — and the profundity and depth of that shift becomes even more apparent when seen through the prism of the two decades of art and music created in its wake.

Released in September of 1991, "Nevermind" despite low commercial expectations by the band and its record label, it rose within a few months to the No. 1 slot on Billboard's U.S. sales chart. "Nevermind" was propelled to No. 1 across the globe by their young fans worldwide that identified with the band and embraced their anthem. January 1992, it had replaced Michael Jackson's album Dangerous at number one on the Billboard charts.

Smells Like Teen Spirit is now seen as a breakthrough – when grunge went mainstream – although at the time Kurt Cobain admitted he was just trying to imitate The Pixies. Since then, it has sold more than 30 million albums.

NIRVANA changed the course of popular music forever and remains an inspiration to those who have followed.

R.E.M. the pioneers of alternative rock

Early 1990s, Nirvana and Pavement viewed R.E.M. as a pioneer of the alternative rock genre with the release of their two most commercially successful albums, Out of Time (1991) and Automatic for the People (1992).

1994 sees R.E.M. return to thier rock roots from the 1980's with the release of Monster. The band began its first tour in six years to support the album; the tour was marred by medical emergencies suffered by three band members. Including Berry collapsing on stage during from a brain aneurysm. He recovered and rejoined the band, but left in October 1997, saying that he no longer had the drive or enjoyment level to be in the band, and that he wanted a career change.

After Bill Berry left the band, while Buck, Mills, and Stipe continued the group as a trio. Their musical style changed but hey continuid to release Gold & Platinum Albums up untill the release of Collapse into Now. No tour was anounced to support the album and 6 months later R.E.M. announced their split on its website.

But all is not lost R.E.M. will release a career-spanning Greatest Hits album through Warner Brothers in November.

In their own words: The guys share their thoughts on why now.

MIKE - "During our last tour, and while making Collapse Into Now and putting together this greatest hits retrospective, we started asking ourselves, 'what next'? Working through our music and memories from over three decades was a hell of a journey. We realized that these songs seemed to draw a natural line under the last 31 years of our working together.

"We have always been a band in the truest sense of the word. Brothers who truly love, and respect, each other. We feel kind of like pioneers in this--there's no disharmony here, no falling-outs, no lawyers squaring-off. We've made this decision together, amicably and with each other's best interests at heart. The time just feels right."

MICHAEL - "A wise man once said--'the skill in attending a party is knowing when it's time to leave.' We built something extraordinary together. We did this thing. And now we're going to walk away from it.

"I hope our fans realize this wasn't an easy decision; but all things must end, and we wanted to do it right, to do it our way.

"We have to thank all the people who helped us be R.E.M. for these 31 years; our deepest gratitude to those who allowed us to do this. It's been amazing."

PETER - "One of the things that was always so great about being in R.E.M. was the fact that the records and the songs we wrote meant as much to our fans as they did to us. It was, and still is, important to us to do right by you. Being a part of your lives has been an unbelievable gift. Thank you.

It was the first of two albums released in conjunction with the Use Your Illusion Tour, the other being Use Your Illusion II. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard charts, selling 685,000 copies in its first week. Each of the Use Your Illusion albums have been certified 7x platinum by the RIAA. It was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1992.

20 Years today since Ozzy Osbourne - No More Tears was released

No More Tears is the sixth studio album by English heavy metal musician Ozzy Osbourne. Released on 17 September 1991, the album charted at number 17 on the UK Albums Chart and 7 on the US Billboard 200 albums chart.

No More Tears spawned five singles, of which four reached the top ten of the US Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, including the number-two "Mama, I'm Coming Home", and it contains the Grammy winning track "I Don't Want To Change The World". It is also one of Osbourne's two best-selling albums in North America, along with his debut Blizzard of Ozz, having been certified four times platinum by the RIAA and double platinum by CRIA. To date, sales stand at over 5,000,000 copies worldwide.

Motörhead's, Lemmy collaborated with Ozzy on this album, he co-wrote such popular tracks as “Hellraiser,” “Don't Want to Change the World,” “Desire” and “Mama I'm Coming Home.”

And just recently Ozzy was credited in part to reuniting a lost autistic boy in California.

Joshua Robb ran away into the wilderness near his elementary school in San Barnardino on September 12 and was missing for approximately 24 hours. A team of about 60 people on foot and in vehicles scoured the lands in attempts to find the boy. The boy's father, Ron, requested that his son's two favourite tunes, Osbourne's "No More Tears" and country artist Alan Jackson's "Good Time," be blasted over the San Barnardino National Forest's public address system. The thought was that even though Joshua is allegedly fearful of loud noises, the familiar songs would draw him out of hiding.

"I heard them blaring 'No More Tears' and it was a short time after that we heard the rescuers had found him," Ron Robb told NBC.

The boy, scratched & bruised, was taken to a local hospital, but is reportedly fine otherwise.

Has Katy Perry cheated to equal Jackson's record?

Katy Perry has tied Michael Jackson's record for the most No. 1 singles from the same album. The pop star accomplished the prestigious title when her latest song Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F) got to the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

It is her fifth hit from her album Teenage Dream and she now shares the joint honour with Michael Jackson's Bad album which was released in 1987.

But did she cheat her way to the top? Some commenter's have pointed out some of the ways she got her #1's to #1

The studio version of Last Friday Night was unable to get to #1 alone so she released an remix a few days ago and for "charting purposes" it charted under the name "Last Friday Night". She also reduced the price of her songs to 69c in a desperate bid to try and get to #1.

Michael Jackson NEVER did this. He never released new remixes to help him get higher in the charts nor did he have to lower his prices. I have no idea if Katy got the other #1's fairly (If she did, that's really awesome and congrats to her!) but one thing for sure is that she does not deserve this title until she is able to get one more #1 fairly and without pulling this crap off.

Blink-182 - New album Neighborhoods

Eight years since Blink-182 released their last album. Frontman Mark Hoppus has said the band are expanding beyond their radio friendly punk sound for the album, and "Up All Night" kicks off with some experimental (well, for Blink-182) guitar riffage and a quasi-ska drum beat.

Taylor Swift adds another show to her NZ tour

Her first two New Zealand shows were instant sell-outs, so Taylor Swift has announced it will be third time lucky for many of her Kiwi fans.
The four-time Grammy winner is hot property, with shows scheduled for March 16 and 17 selling out at a lightning pace. A third show has been confirmed for March 18.

Throughout her worldwide Speak Now tour, Swift has performed a number of cover songs, including tracks by Mumford & Sons and Uncle Kracker, as well as covering songs of artists from whatever city she happens to be playing in. Heart Strings for Christchurch

Six of New Zealand's biggest music stars are to receive guitars made from timber recovered from the ruins of buildings destroyed in the Christchurch earthquakes.

The stars will use the "Heart Strings" guitars in concert before they are eventually auctioned to raise money for Christchurch.

Fly My Pretties frontman Barnaby Weir has been given one of the guitars.

"It's a clever concept and a great cause," said Weir, who embarks on a solo tour with Anika Moa next month, and then with Fly My Pretties in October. "I'm definitely keen to shred the gat on a few songs."

The project is the brainchild of Jason Pickering, who lost his home in the February quake, and is also the idea of his father Bruce. They wanted to give a piece of history a new lease of life as a musical instrument.

The Sunday Star-Times understands the other guitars will go to Dave Dobbyn, Don McGlashan, Op Shop's Jason Kerrison, Anna Coddington and Cairo Knife Fight's Aaron Tokona.

The guitars will be auctioned in November, and a seventh – the Memorial guitar – will be donated to the Christchurch Art Gallery.

Ten is the debut studio album by the American grunge band Pearl Jam, released on August 27, 1991 through Epic Records. Following the disbanding of bassist Jeff Ament and guitarist Stone Gossard's previous group Mother Love Bone, the two recruited vocalist Eddie Vedder, guitarist Mike McCready, and drummer Dave Krusen to form Pearl Jam in 1990. Most of the songs began as instrumental jams, to which Vedder added lyrics about topics such as depression, homelessness, and abuse.

Ten was not an immediate success, but by late 1992 it had reached number two on the Billboard 200 chart. The album produced three hit singles: "Alive", "Even Flow", and "Jeremy". While Pearl Jam was accused of jumping on the grunge bandwagon at the time, Ten was instrumental in popularizing alternative rock in the mainstream.[1] The album has been certified diamond by the RIAA in the United States, selling over 9,800,000 copies, and remains Pearl Jam's most successful album.

Auckland leg of the #PJ20 (Pearl Jam 20 Years) teasure hunt

A worldwide treasure hunt by grunge rockers Pearl Jam leading up to the release of their new album included a prize hidden in Auckland.

The album, the soundtrack to their upcoming documentary Pearl Jam Twenty, includes 29 live tracks recorded during shows around the world and is being released on September 20.

The band hid the album’s song titles on posters in cities where each of the tracks was recorded and used clues to reveal them online as they were found by fans.

Sony Music - Chris Barry was the first to find the hidden Pearl Jam song title in Auckland.

Track six on the album, Blood, was recorded during an Auckland concert and the song title was found at The Fiddler bar in Auckland this afternoon by a fan called Chris Barry.

It took him about an hour to find the poster after the clue – “A fiddler plays across the street from this Auckland skyscraper” – was posted online.

Elvis starred in 33 successful films, made history with his television appearances and specials, and knew great acclaim through his many, often record-breaking, live concert performances on tour and in Las Vegas. Globally, he has sold over one billion records, more than any other artist. His American sales have earned him gold, platinum or multi-platinum awards. Among his many awards and accolades were 14 Grammy nominations (3 wins) from the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award which he received at age 36, and his being named One of the Ten Outstanding Young Men of the Nation for 1970 by the United States Jaycees. Without any of the special privileges, his celebrity status might have afforded him, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Army.

His talent, good looks, sensuality, charisma, and good humor endeared him to millions, as did the humility and human kindness he demonstrated throughout his life. Known the world over by his first name, he is regarded as one of the most important figures of twentieth century popular culture. Elvis died at his Memphis home, Graceland, on August 16, 1977.

This year also marks the 55th anniversary of the release of the first two Elvis albums. In just that first year, 1956, Elvis sold 10 million singles and 800,000 LPs.

Metallica (also known as "The Black Album") is the eponymous fifth studio album by the American heavy metal band Metallica. It was released on August 13, 1991 through Elektra Records. Metallica produced five hit singles that are considered today among the band's best-known songs: "Enter Sandman", "The Unforgiven", "Nothing Else Matters", "Wherever I May Roam", and "Sad but True".

It spent four consecutive weeks at number one on Billboard 200. Metallica is the band's best-selling album to date, with over 15 million copies sold in the United States. It is the best-selling album of the SoundScan era. The album was certified 15x platinum (diamond) by the RIAA on November 13, 2009.

Bob Dylan, Jack White and Norah Jones Record Unheard Hank Williams Songs

Rolling Stone - The Lost Notebooks of Hank Williams, a new collection of previously unheard songs by the country great recorded by artists such as Bob Dylan, Jack White, Norah Jones and Levon Helm, will be released on October 4th. The set, which will be issued on Dylan's imprint Egyptian Records, was originally conceived by veteran A&R executive Mary Martin as a Dylan-centric project, but eventually evolved into a multi-artist tribute to the late singer-songwriter.

The songs featured in the set were rescued from notebooks left behind in a leather briefcase by Williams after he died in 1953 at the age of 29. The notes contained lyrics and song ideas that were finished by the 13 artists who contributed to the disc. The full story of Williams' notebooks will be told in the album's liner notes, which were penned by Michael McCall of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

Ke$ha disgusts Alice Cooper with her lyrics

Yahoo! has reported that Ke$ha's lyrics for her new Alice Cooper duet were so "disgusting", the shock rocker found himself having to "rein her in".

The veteran star has struck up an unlikely friendship with Tik Tok singer Ke$ha over the past year and the pals have even made surprise appearances at each other's concerts, teaming up for a rendition of Cooper classic School's Out.

Now the rock wildman has recruited Ke$ha, who affectionately calls Cooper "dad", to appear on his new album Welcome 2 My Nightmare and he insists fans will be surprised by how crazy the pop star can be.

"I like people that don't belong and yet what they're doing works perfectly. I don't care where it comes from, as long as it's right. If you tell me something doesn't work, I'll work my head off until it does then shove it down your throat.
"I think a lot of my audience is going to go 'KE$HA!?', but she probably wrote the most disgusting lyrics in the song - we had to rein her in. I like people to know that just because artists are put in a pigeon hole, that doesn't mean that's what they are. Give people a little room."

Lady Gaga clearly has an appreciation for high fashion, and now the pop star is putting that passion into her new job as an intern for designer Philip Treacy, the man behind Princess Beatrice’s famous fascinator and Carrie Bradshaw’s feathered wedding piece.

"She plans to [intern]. She's already visited me". Treacy explained. "This is what happened: one Monday morning, four burly bodyguards arrived – Lady Gaga's security team – to check out the security of the building. I looked at them as if to say: what?! Who is going to take a pot shot at Lady Gaga? Anyway, she is young, talented and peculiar – which I like."

Personally, I think this is awesome. Gaga loves hats and what better way to fuel your passion by studying under one of the best!!. I wonder what her first line of head wear will look like?

Luger Boa at Butlers Reef

Jimmy Christmas likes New Plymouth so much his band planned their latest tour around it.

"We played at Butlers Reef at New Year and it was pretty amazing. There was a great crowd, so we wanted to make sure we came back for a Saturday night gig," Christmas says.

The frontman of rock band Luger Boa says the group love performing live.

They hit the road with opening band Black River Drive and will perform in Taranaki on July 30.

"We have a responsibility to go out on the road and give something special. We're not a band that just plays their record. We want it to be more exciting, overwhelming - a sensory experience."

Since their last album release more than two years ago, they have opened for Kings of Leon, cranked up their airplay on radio and toured the country.

How successful have they been then?

"Depends how you define success. It's a great achievement to make a second album. And to have a band that's tight and together - personalities are always a consideration and we've cracked that. Plus we've got an exciting live act."

He says this could be the band's last national tour, as they try and crack the international market.

Think Australia, Europe, Japan and the United States.

The key is knowing what you're trying to achieve, he says.

One song he tips to be of good value is the new single The Same Things, which has been a crowd favourite already.

"You know it's good when they've only heard it once before and it has the power to move an audience."

While he hopes the Taranaki crowds will be receptive, he's also hanging out to hit the surf here, which he's never experienced.

"I've got a new warm wetsuit, I might have to give it a crack. So if there's anybody out there who wants to take me for a wave or point me in the right direction let me know."

Luger Boa and Black River Drive play Butlers Reef, Saturday July 30 at 8pm. Pre-sale tickets $20, door sales $25.

It's almost been 20 years since the NES was released, so to celebrate I found some remakes in their 8 bit glory!!!

Following a series of arcade game successes in the early 1980s, Nintendo made plans to produce a cartridge-based console. Masayuki Uemura designed the system, which was released in Japan on July 15, 1983 for ¥14,800.

New Plymouth's Singers Songwriters group 6th birthday

New Plymouth's Singers Songwriters group will celebrate its sixth birthday tonight night.

The group meets on the last Friday of each month at the New Plymouth Little Theatre.

Founder Anand Rose said he got the idea from a similar event he used to attend in Dublin and the group's aim was to encourage and nurture local musicians.

"It's to facilitate the growth of the Taranaki music scene," Mr Rose said. "Allowing musicians to improve, no matter what standard they are at."

Mr Rose said artists were limited to one song a night and there were up to 20 performances.

"There's a team of up to 10 people who make it possible."

He was looking forward to many more years with the group.

Newcomer David Calder said he was thrilled to be performing at the birthday bash. "It is a real privilege to be among these enthusiasts for acoustic and folk music in Taranaki," he said.

Doors open at 7pm tonight and the music will start about 8pm

Lady Gaga wants to communicate with all of her little monsters, including the ones who are deaf. Hollywood Gossip reports that the Mother Monster is planning to put her paws up — literally — and learn American Sign Language so that she can converse with her fans that are hard of hearing.

Gaga was reportedly inspired after watching YouTube clips of her deaf fans signing to her songs, once again proving that digital means are always a direct link to Gaga herself. You, too, can post a video of something related to, or celebrating, Gaga and there is a terrific chance that Gaga will actually see it — and it will inspire her!

A Gaga source said that once the ‘Born This Way’ singer masters sign language, she can respond in turn to the videos that are posted online. Gaga isn’t stopping there, and really, why would she? The singer reportedly plans to incorporate sign language into future concerts.

Hip hop-turned-pop star Dane Rumble and Dave Baxter, brainchild behind and frontman of the folksy Avalanche City, were guests on the American network's show earlier this week. They starred in a segment called "Up-and-Coming Rock Stars from New Zealand".

The show is part of ABC News Now's 24-hour digital channel, which has more than 30 million US subscribers and an estimated international audience of 200 million through Twitter, web streaming and Facebook. Baxter was in the US promoting Avalanche City's debut album, Our New Life Above the Ground, which local record company Warners has already licensed in the US, UK, Japan, Germany, Sweden and France. The band's latest single Love Love Love is sitting at the top of the New Zealand charts.

West Coast School of Rock creating young stars

Young stars of the rock 'n roll future got their first chance to shine at a open mic night at New Plymouth West Coast School of Rock on Saturday.

ROCK ON: Martin Leith, 15, and

his band the Midday Elders knew

how to the work the crowd.

Marking the end of Youth Week the gig attracted 15 acts and close to 100 fans and was successful enough that it is likely to be held again, said school founder Lisa Tahuaroa yesterday.

"The whole thing is finding for young people what their potential is and sending them there. It's about getting them out there to perform and produce the next generation of rock and roll stars," Mrs Tahuaroa said.

Along with her husband Rimu, the couple could well be responsible for turning New Plymouth from a town known for its gas and dairy industries into one known for its musicians.

Since starting the school of rock from their home five years ago, the business has grown to employ nine people and include a school for rocking toddlers.

Some of their former students came back to perform on Saturday. "We are all about giving them the independence to go off and be able to do what they want to do without us but they can come back any time. This is a family business. This is what we want to be doing, giving people one little step on the way to their dreams," Mrs Tahuaroa said.

The compilation had sold out and become a rarity within three years and in 2010 Stebbing Studios released a triple box set featuring the Zodiac years material with The Hustler, Snatmin Cuthin and the Peg Leg lost tapes CDs bundled together.

The Human Instinct had its origins with 1950s pop band the Four Fours, formed in Tauranga in 1958 by drummer Trevor Spitz. Lead guitarist Bill Ward joined in 1959 and former police cadet Dave Hartstone became rhythm guitarist in 1960. Frank Hay a friend of the band was given a crash course on playing the bass and the foursome, rapidly became one of the most sought after bands in the country.

Once the Four Fours got a taste of success with hit records and sell out crowds the lads set their eyes on becoming t the London scene, becoming the second only Kiwi band to do so, arriving a couple of months after Me & the Others which featured Peter Dawkins on drums (later a respect record producer) and Gary Thain on bass (later of the Keef Hartley Band and Uriah Heep).

Four four founder Trevor Spitz wasn’t keen on the overseas trip so the band began auditioning for a replacement.

In mid-1966 Maurice Greer, then fronting his own band The Saints, was asked to try out. He had his first group at age 14-years and was billed as ‘the teenage wonder drummer’. In 1964 he began experimenting with an impressive drum kit, converting it into a stand up unit, which he claimed was better for his vocals. But it wasn’t only his drumming ability that impressed the Four Fours it was his talent for to harmonising and hitting those high notes, the trademark of chart topping bands of the time. He joined just in time to record their biggest hit Go Go / Don’t Print My Memoirs.

"He has a special set of Slingerland drums which suit his style, and he stands up while playing, balancing on one foot, using the other to pound that specially built bass pedal. The leaping P J Proby they call him," said John Frederick in the Manawatu Evening Standard.

The Four Fours gave themselves 18 months to prepare for their challenge to the UK scene often working 35 hours a week on stage and recording.

In August 1966 they said farewell to New Zealand as support act for the Rolling Stones and The Searchers taking up residency on the Fairsky to pay their way to London. But the times were changing and the boys knew they needed a more catchy name. "We knew we needed to ‘hep it up’ a bit. We wrote down names, put them in a hat and pulled out Human Instinct," says Maurice Greer.

Work was hard to find, the British bands were hard and loud, new equipment was needed and a booking agent to get them gigs. After four months of hard luck the Human Instinct took to the stage at the Starlight Ballroom in Wembley along with hundreds of other hopeful bands playing to an audience of booking agents.

It was their solid rendition of a hit Beach Boys' song, complete with perfect harmonies and tight guitar work that opened the door. The bookings began to roll in with agents asking for ‘the band that did Good Vibrations with the stand-up drummer’.

The hard yards at the working men’s clubs and high school dances eventually paid off with a short residency at The Marquee Club supporting the Jeff Beck Band, then the Small Faces, Spencer Davis Group, the Moody Blues, Manfred Mann and Cat Stevens. The band also supported Roy Orbison and sat in for the Peddlers for two weeks. They also took on two short resident spots at Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Club.

The Human Instinct were offered a deal with Mercury Records. The first single release Rich Man / Illusions in 1967 received good press but saw no chart action. A review in the new Musical Express described the song as: "A pounding up-tempo piece with ear catching lyrics and some weird sounds. Self penned and out of the ordinary."

It was quickly followed by Can’t Stop Loving You / Want To Be Loved By You and a re-recording of the Four Fours Go Go in June 1967. The band then signed with Deram to record A Day in My Minds Mind / Pink Dawn, described 30-years later by English critic Jon Savage as "a blurring of the real and fantastic, aurally reproduced by detuned raga-style guitars and a few voices."

The Byrds song Renaissance Fair was backed by Death at the Seaside and recorded at Olympic Studios in December 1967. It later appeared on the early 90s compilation album The Great British Psychedelic Trip.

The pressures of touring were getting to the band. Dave Hartstone wanted to stay in London but the others decided to return home to a normal family life. Greer was offered the job drumming with the Jeff Beck Group but chose to return to his homeland in September 1968.

After a series of welcome back concerts Frank Hay and Bill Ward went their own way but Greer was determined to rebuild the band and head back for another shot at the British mainstream. In his home town of Palmerston North, he found just the player who could help spearhead the next wave.

He took an immediate shine to the playing of local guitarist Bill Tekahika, an old high school friend. Billy T.K quit his own unit The Sinners to join Human Instinct. Not only could he cope with the Hendrix-Zeppelin style, he was about to become a guitar legend in his own right.

The new unit soon teamed with bass player Peter Barton and headed to Auckland where they quickly set the nightclub scene alight with the new hard driving, experimental sound.

The return trip to London however didn’t bring the success the band had hoped for. Things had changed, work wasn’t so easy to come by and the band only remained three months.

The journey however as not wasted – they bought the latest equipment and became saturated in the pioneering sounds of fellow Kiwi guitarist Doug Jerebine who was also trying to crack the London scene.

Jerebine’s playing and songwriting had a major impact on Maurice Greer. Jerebine, recording under the name Jesse Harper, and after producing little more than an album’s worth of free-form rock anthems quit the rock scene for Eastern religion and eventually becoming a high ranking Krishna monk and scholar. His original material was only released in the late 1980s, long after Human Instinct had recorded Midnight Sun, Idea and five of his other songs.

Those two singles along with Black Sally, Tomorrow, Rainbow World, Highway and the band’s irreverent version of The Kinks You Really Got Me were culled from the Human Instinct’s consistently popular trilogy of albums recorded in quick succession on their return to New Zealand.

Bass player Peter Barton left in the middle of recording Burning Up Years in 1969. He appears on the tracks Maiden Voyage and You Really Got Me. Larry Waide was bought in to complete the album.

The second LP, Stoned Guitar was recorded in June 1970. According to an April 1971 issue of Groove, Stoned Guitar on Pye records had sold 4000 copies and I Think I’ll Go Back Home was in the top New Zealand top 10.

Larry Waide left after Stoned Guitar as musical directions began to shift. In February 1971 former Underdogs bass player Neil Edwards joined and the more mature and structured Pins In It album was released in June that year.

After a three month Australian tour in mid 1971, Billy T.K. left the band and Greer returned home to build and operate nightclubs with his brother Frank. However, the Human Instinct was soon back on the scene playing a softer Little Feat-style of rock, as evidenced in the next two albums Snatmin Cuthin and The Hustler. For live work and those albums Greer again called on the best musicians around including Martin Hope (ex Foumyula), John Donaghue (ex Timberjack), keyboardists Graeme Collins and then Steve McDonald, and bass players Glenn Mickelsson (Zaine Griff), Peter Cuddihy and Chris Gunn among others.

The Human Instinct story will eventually be told in full but for the moment the history continues to unfold. Human Instinct continues to perform the occasional live and a 'new' album which has taken over a decade to see the light of day was finally released in early 2011. Midnight Sun recorded at Revolver Studios in Auckland features original band members and guest appearances several top players.

Stuff.co.nz - It would appear Justin Bieber is not immune to high school rejections after suffering an epic fail on his first two showings in Palmerston North, despite being the most popular adolescent on the planet.

His movie Never Say Never hit the big screen yesterday, and if it wasn't for the incessant screams of the "beliebers" on screen, you could have heard a pin drop in that theatre – not because the Palmerston North variety were watching with bated breath, but because they weren't there.

Never Say Never screened to an empty theatre at its first showing, while the

next after-school session at 3.30pm attracted 15 people.

The movie, which follows the Canadian teen singing sensation throughout his 2010 concert tour, has grossed well over NZ$100 million at the worldwide box office in the 13 weeks it has been showing.

Downtown Cinemas manager Kaye Hendricks said yesterday the complex was waiting for the "beliebers" to come out in full force over the weekend and the school holidays.

So far, pre-booked ticket sales have been low, but Mrs Hendricks said children usually just turned up at the time of the screening to buy tickets.

More than 500 tickets pre-sold to the premier midnight screening of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part One, in November last year, many to high school students who had an NCEA exam the next day.

But compared to the loyal Harry Potter diehards, the slightly younger generation of beliebers may have a more difficult time in getting their parents to sit through it too.

Stuff.co.nz He predicted Lady Gaga's success and foresaw Katy Perry's rise to fame. Now celebrity blogger Perez Hilton is picking a Kiwi musician to be the next big thing.

Hilton named Zoe "Zowie" Fleury as one of the top five artists to watch in 2011 after posting her first single Broken Machine on his website late last year.

And after she was confirmed to play music showcase SXSW in Austin, Texas, the internet king personally requested she play at his exclusive showcase.

"He asked us to play and it was a really good show. He was standing side of stage singing along the whole time," she told Stuff.co.nz.

"He's really lovely, really nice. He's really cheeky and nice."

Zowie, formerly known as Bionic Pixie, says the idea of being pinpointed alongside the likes of Lady Gaga is hard to take in.

"It is surreal. It's very, very cool and it's awesome to have his support. But it is a weird feeling. He is very good at predicting the future."

Since Hilton posted her video on his gossip blog in August, a whole new audience has opened up to her space-inspired pop, she said.

"There have been lots of fans from the States, fans on Facebook and plays on MySpace - everything has just gone crazy. He's got a lot of power and he's such a music lover so it's been awesome for us."

She says SXSW, an international music showcase featuring hundreds of international bands and musicians, was like nothing she had ever seen before.

"It was insane, I can't even explain it. It's so weird and cool. It just kind of felt like a Big Day Out sort of jammed into about five streets, with bands every five metres. It was really, really cool."

She says the feedback has been resoundingly positive since the show on Saturday.

"It's been so good. I've been reading some really good reviews and the way they've received the Zowie project has been really cool, like "Ziggy Stardust space child" and things like that, so I like that."

Zowie is in the final stages of finishing her debut album, which she says should be released towards the middle of the year.

News Wire.co.nz - It took 185 sleepless hours filled with stress, wet wipes and the occasional hallucination, but a determined DJ has officially broken a world record.

Scott “Snap” Campbell achieved his goal of racking up more than 183 consecutive hours on air, at the same time raising more than $7600 for Christchurch, his hometown.

“I’m definitely relieved it’s over,” Campbell says.

“It was honestly the hardest thing I’d ever had to do in my life and it was a bit touch and go at times, but I’m proud we got there in the end.”

The Guinness World Record previously stood at 183 hours.

Showering was replaced by a quick, partially-clothed scrub down with wet wipes performed on the studio webcam, and limited opportunities for sleep occasionally resulted in hallucinations.

“There were times when my crew would wake me up and I’d get up, but I wasn’t really with it so I’d still be kind of dreaming. One morning I was convinced two of my best mates were trying to kidnap me and kill me, and I was just sort of playing along and saying what they wanted me to say on air until I could find a way to get away from them,” Campbell says.

“Coming out of that and realising I’d been basically hallucinating the whole thing was completely bloody terrifying.”

Campbell will use his experiences later this year when he attempts to break records for longest team radio show performed while suspended upside down, and the longest show done while naked.

He was disappointed they weren’t able to raise more money, blaming lack of mainstream media coverage for people not being aware of the project.

The money raised for World Record for Christchurch will be donated to the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.

Gaga sticks up for Rebecca Black

Stuff.co.nz Rebecca Black has another famous fan: Lady Gaga.

At a Musicians@Google event on Tuesday, Gaga stuck up for the 13-year-old singer - who has been widely mocked on the Internet for her song, Friday.

"I think it's fantastic," Gaga said of Black's fame through YouTube, where she has more than 35 million streams.

"I say Rebecca Black is a genius and anyone that's telling her she's cheesy is full of shit," Gaga went on, although she noted that she hasn't seen the video. Over the weekend, Simon Cowell defended Black as well.

Black says she has been cyber bullied for her song, which she recorded after her mom paid US$2000 to LA-based Ark Studios.

According to Billboard.biz estimates, she's making about US$27,000 a week from iTunes sales and YouTube streams.

During her long visit at Google's headquarters in Mountain View, California, dubbed 'Google Goes Gaga', the singer plugged Google Moderator, a tool her fans use to submit text or video questions.

"At Google, we've seen Gaga build her career by embracing technology, as well as constantly innovating for her fans," said the company's Marissa Mayer.

Gerry and the Pacemakers love pussy

Stuff.co.nz A cat from Hamilton has become the latest member of a 1960s British band after being discovered in the back of a truck in Invercargill.

Mozzie the cat toured with Gerry and the Pacemakers and was only discovered in the south when the group kicked off its New Zealand tour in Invercargill. On Friday (8-April) they returned to Hamilton to perform at the Founder Theatre, and reunite Mozzie with Mr de Bruin.

Group promoter Layton Lillas said Mozzie must have snuck into the back of their truck when they were loading it up in Hamilton before starting the tour.

The cat had travelled unnoticed and was discovered when they arrived in Invercargill for the opening night, he said.

When unloading the truck the crew heard a "meowing" noise that was firstly mistaken for a ringtone on a mobile phone, he said.

The band started to make arrangements to send the cat back home, but with a such a tight schedule it was easier to take him along as a tour mascot, he said.

"He's loveable ... he's travelling around with some celebrities ... he's almost becoming a celebrity himself."

Mozzie's owners, who were neighbours of the sound engineer in Hamilton, were contacted and were happy for him to continue touring, he said.

In Invercargill, he roamed around the Civic Theatre stage before settling in his cage with a blanket, Mr Lillas said.

"The only thing the cat asks is that he is let out to the toilet and that we look the other way."

Mozzie will now accompany the band through to Wellington and will then be flown home to Hamilton.

Cat owner Hendri de Bruin said he noticed Mozzie was missing on Monday and had asked neighbours, the vet and the SPCA if they had seen him.

"In the back on our minds we had declared him dead," he said.

However, when he received the call to say Mozzie was safe and sound, and in Invercargill, he replied: "oh my gosh, are you serious?"

"It was sort of amazing ... we didn't expect him to go all the way to Invercargill ... that's just crazy."

Mozzie was a loving cat who enjoyed cuddling and slept on his chest every night, Mr de Bruin said.

The cost to fly him back would have been $170, which he could not afford, so they agreed to let Mozzie stay on the tour.

"He sounds very happy ... it will be pretty cool when we re-unite."

Civic Theatre operations manager Garnet Ashbrook said Mozzie was found tucked away in the truck under one of the speakers.

20 Years today since Massive Attack - Blue Lines was released

Blue Lines is the debut album by British electronica group Massive Attack, released on 8 April 1991 UK (6 August 1991 US) by Virgin Records.

Blue Lines is generally considered the first trip hop album, although the term was not coined until years later. The album was a success in the United Kingdom, reaching #13 in the albums chart; sales were limited elsewhere. A fusion of electronic music, hip hop, dub music, '70s soul music and reggae, the album established Massive Attack as one of the most innovative British bands of the 1990s and the founder of trip hop's Bristol Sound. Music critic Simon Reynolds stated that the album also marked a change in electronic/dance music, "a shift toward a more interior, meditational sound. The songs on Blue Lines run at 'spliff' tempos — from a mellow, moonwalking 90 beats per minute ...down to a positively torpid 67 bpm." The group also drew inspiration from concept albums in various genres by artists such as Pink Floyd, Public Image Ltd., Billy Cobham, Herbie Hancock and Isaac Hayes.

Blue Lines featured breakbeats, sampling, and rapping on a number of tracks, but the design of the album differed from traditional hip hop. Massive Attack approached the American-born hip hop movement from an underground British perspective, as well as incorporating live instruments into the mixes. It features the vocals of Shara Nelson and Horace Andy, along with the rapping of Tricky Kid. Blue Lines proved to be popular in the club scene, as well as on college radio stations.

Putting P Money on a plane for Purple Paddocks

Award-winning and internationally recognised New Zealand DJ - P Money - who is now based in New York, will star at Purple Paddocks on April 23, Easter Weekend.

"When I contacted him he said he wasn't going to be in the country but if I wanted to shell out for the flights then he'd do it," Mr Lamb, the owner of New Plymouth's Club 55, said.

"So I'm literally flying him in from New York for the night."

The festival has undergone some big changes this year, most notably the venue. Previously it has been held in a paddock on farmland but will move to the Okurukuru Winery this year.

"I want people's perception of Purple Paddocks to be a legitimate dance party. In the past people have seen it as an underground rave in a random location," Mr Lamb said.

"With this location and the entertainment lineup I'm taking it to another level. I think that the lineup is easily as good as any other dance event in the country."

Last year close to 2500 people attended the festival over two days while more than 850 revellers attended the first year's gig .

Mr Lamb said he was expecting another huge turnout to the gig, which has a late licence allowing them to sell alcohol after midnight on Easter Saturday.

Mr Lamb said he recognised with Kora playing at Butler's Reef on Friday night it placed a lot of financial strain on people.

"So we've tried to make it more financially feasible for people to attend both gigs," he said.

Tickets went on sale at the weekend and were in demand.

"There's a lot of people coming home from uni and they're dragging all of their mates to New Plymouth for Purple Paddocks," Mr Lamb said.

"We're gaining a reputation for putting on a good quality event, with top class entertainment."

A bus service will be running to and from the event. Mr Lamb said when the bus returns to New Plymouth it will drive around the suburbs dropping people off.

Other acts will include Croatians Maya and Vanya, General Lee - New Zealand's only official Ministry of Sound DJ, Gina Cat from Canada and Sliva MC.

Auckland is digitally added to the background when her and her friends are "singing" (or at least giving the autotune a workout) in the back seat (in the back seat) at 7:45,she's drivin’ on the highway
cruisin’ so fast.

Nirvana Hormoaning EP re-released

http://www.gibson.com - A highly sought Nirvana EP that was released only in Australia is getting a second run. The influential band’s Hormoaning EP will be re-released on Record Store Day, April 16, according to NME.com.

The 1992 release includes Nirvana’s covers of songs by Devo, The Vaselines and The Wipers, along with a couple of originals – “Aneurysm” and “Even in His Youth.” The songs were recorded during a BBC session with DJ John Peel. It was originally sold during the band’s tour of Australia.

The re-released edition of Hormoaning will be limited to 6,000 copies at independent record stores.
