Eminem and Ice Tea (the drink not Ice-T the rapper)

The beverage brand and the rapper now have a long-term partnership for emerging artists from Eminem's Shady Records' roster. As a result of the new deal, Brisk and Shady Records will host a series of artist events throught the year. Later in 2011, the two companies plan to produce several large-scale live music events.

The first Brisk-Shady Records event took place at New York City's Highline Ballroom this past Tuesday, Feb. 9 and celebrated the long-anticipated signing of hip-hop supergroup Slaughterhouse to Eminem's label.

Slaughtehouse -- Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Royce da 5'9" -- was featured on "Session One," a bonus track on Eminem's "Recovery." The group will release its second album later this year.

Paul Rosenberg, Eminem's manager, said in a statement that his client believed both writing his own Super Bowl spot and creating a new marketing platform for Shady Records was a "great opportunity to do something creative and fun."

To wit, the creative agency behind the Super Bowl spot, Mekanism, inserted 14 "Easter Eggs" (hidden gems) within the TV ad. For all your hardcore Eminem heads, see how many eggs you can find in the ad below before reading what they are (listed beneath the video):

Easter Eggs Answers:
- Alley = 8 mile reference
- Trunk gag =slim shady LP cover
- Infinity sticker on dumpster = "infinite" album (Em's first album)
- License plate says Eminem
- Em's club dance = inspired by his moves from video "Without Me"
- Trailers= reference to trailer park white trash roots/8mile
- Basement Sound Booth = ref to Basemint Productions (his first group)
- Stan = Stan the song
- Portapotty = Eminem has said often that he finds his best inspiration on the toilet
- 12 steps he walks down= (reference to "Recovery")
- Does a "gun cock" move during rap from "Not Afraid"
- Skyline = inspired by the skyline from the "Not Afraid" video
- Shady Poo = refers to Slim Shady
- Eminem is left handed, so is the Eminem puppet

Neil Diamond cancels Wellington show

http://www.neildiamond.com
Neil Diamond's upcoming Wellington concert has been cancelled due to the lack of a suitable indoor venue, promoters say. [Rumor has it that it was actually due to poor sales.]

Diamond was to perform in Wellington on March 4.

A statement released by the event's promoters cited "unforeseen production and logistical challenges associated with staging Neil Diamond's full show outdoors" as the reason for the cancellation.

Online tickets will be automatically refunded. Tickets bought over the counter can be refunded at the point of purchase.

Diamond will still perform at Auckland's Vector Arena on February 26 and 28. New allocations of tickets have been released for both shows.

What do you think is "unforeseen production and logistical blaa blaa outdoor blaa blaa..." a good reason to cancel a show that was always going to be outside?

Johnny Depp 'wants Elvis role'

Johnny Depp is desperate to play legendary singer Elvis Presley in a biopic.

The 47-year-old is known for his passion for music, having played guitar in his own band and on songs for British rockers Oasis.

The star is now believed to be interested in a planned movie about Presley, which will focus on the lead-up to his death in 1977. The star had problems with drugs, and was suffering from glaucoma, high blood pressure, liver damage, and an enlarged colon at the time of his death aged 42. Depp is understood to be intrigued by the idea of showing a new side to Presley, focusing on his problems rather than his time in the limelight.

"Johnny has always been fascinated by strong characters and inspirational people like Elvis," a source explained. "He is excited by the idea of a movie focusing on the dark side of Elvis and his later years as a superstar and an icon. It's still early days but this is a project Johnny is very keen to get off the ground."

Last year, it was revealed Depp was launching his own record label as he was keen to help launch the careers of new talent.

Do you think Depp has what it takes to pull off a convincing Elvis?

Formed from the ashes of stoner rock icons Kyuss, Queens Of The Stone Age have been one of the 21st century’s most engaging and ambitious hard rock groups, combining stoner-rock, metal and garage-rock into a mixture that’s both challenging and accessible. Led by frontman Josh Homme, QOTSA have pursued an agenda of moody, sexy, high-energy rock that flaunts its danger and oddness, winning over fans and critics in the process.

Josh recently revived his Rekords Rekords label with Liberator Music for Australasia and the self-titled Queens Of The Stone Age debut from 1998 will be re-issued in conjuction with the band’s New Zealand tour next week. The album has been re-mastered with three bonus tracks from the original recording sessions.

In what will be their first headline concerts in NZ ever, QOTSA play Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch who will be rocked to the core in a seismic smash up when the Queens deliver a killer live show featuring songs from the debut album.

Who wants to dress up as Slash? Well now you can!

LOS ANGELES | Tue Feb 15, 2011 3:00pm EST

The former Guns N' Roses guitarist has teamed up with a Beverly Hills auction house to sell a wide range of personal property to fans and collectors next month.

Buyers with a passion for skulls and dinosaurs will be in luck, along with those whose living rooms would sparkle with exotic Southeast Asian furniture.

A sizable share of the proceeds from the March 26 sale will go to charity, according to Julien's Auctions, which specializes in selling entertainment memorabilia.

Auctioneer Darren Julien said he expected most of the items to end up overseas, particularly in Japan and other Asian markets where Guns N' Roses are still revered.

One of the perils of being a successful rock star for more than 20 years is that money buys a lot of clutter.

"I have a bad habit of collecting stuff that I don't necessarily use," Slash told Reuters, calling from a tour bus en route to a show in Oklahoma.

But a recent house move provided the 45-year-old rocker and his wife, Perla, with the perfect excuse to open their storage closets to fans and to boost the coffers of a local charity for abused and homeless adolescents.

The crown jewel is a 1966 Corvette Stingray, estimated to sell for at least $90,000 to $100,000, and described by Slash as "a monster of a car."
Slash's "MONSTER OF A CAR"

It was the toughest item to let go of, because it was the first good car he ever bought just as Guns N' Roses were becoming big stars in the late 1980s, and it is largely in original condition. Fluffy dice are included.

But the car has been sitting in storage while Slash drives new Aston Martins and his wife ferries their two young sons in an SUV. "I know that somebody would love to have that car because muscle cars are very, very popular," he said.

He estimates he has about 100 guitars, and will sell 14 of them at the auction. Among them is a Guild acoustic on which he recorded the band's early ballad "Patience." Also on the block are various custom and one-of-a-kind Telecaster, Stratocaster, Sanchez, Epiphone and B.C. Rich models.

Jackets, T-shirts and jewelry -- with skull motifs in abundance -- are going on sale, and two of Slash's trademark top hats.

And then there are the model dinosaurs, which would thrill any 6-year-old boy and evidently did the same to an adult rock star.

"My house was completely immersed in prehistoric animal lore," when he started dating his wife, Slash said. But she married him anyway.

Indie artists Arcade Fire Album of the Year Grammy

www.rollingstone.com
It's likely that this year's Grammy Awards will be best remembered for the triumph of underdogs in key categories. Indie artists Arcade Fire took home the Album of the Year prize for The Suburbs, beating out best-selling discs by Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Lady Antebellum and Eminem, while jazz vocalist Esperanza Spalding unexpectedly beat out Justin Bieber, Mumford & Sons, Drake and Florence and the Machine for Best New Artist.

The ceremony was packed with memorable performances this year. Here's a look at some of the highlights.

Top nominee Eminem won Rap Album for Recovery and Rap Solo Performance for "Not Afraid," though he was shut out in every other category. Jay-Z won two awards — Rap Song for "Empire State of Mind" with Alicia Keys, and Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for "On to the Next One" with Swizz Beatz.

In the rock categories, Paul McCartney won Solo Rock Vocal Performance for the live recording of "Helter Skelter" on his Good Evening New York City album, while Neil Young's "Angry World" won for Rock Song and Muse's The Resistance won for Rock Album. The Black Keys took home two Grammys – Rock Performance by a Duo or Group for their song "Tighten Up" and Alternative Music Album for Brothers.

It should come as no surprise that Lady Gaga's performance of her new single "Born This Way" was the evening's most visually stunning and bizarre spectacle:

Bob Dylan joined Mumford and Sons and the Avett Brothers for a medley of acoustic numbers including his classic "Maggie's Farm":

Mick Jagger made his first-ever live appearance at the Grammy Awards with tribute to the late Solomon Burke backed up by Raphael Saadiq and his band:

Whereas most everyone else on the Grammy stage went big and bold, Lady Antebellum opted for a stripped-down, understated medley of Teddy Pendergrass' "If Don't Know Me By Now" and their hits "American Honey" and "Need You Now":

Cee Lo Green put on what could be the night's silliest and most colorful performance with a rendition of his song "Fuck You" -- err, "Forget You," sorry -- decked out in a peacock suit and backed up by Gwyneth Paltrow and a stage full of puppets from the Jim Henson Company:

Arcade Fire performed two songs at the ceremony -- a blistering version of "Month of May" with a bunch of guys riding around on bikes, and "Ready to Start" after they won for Album of the Year:

Esperanza Spalding a victim of Belieber's

Esperanza Spalding has become the victim of a web attack launched by angry Justin Bieber fans (Belieber's).

The little-known jazz bassist and singer, 26, took home the Best New Artist award last night at the Grammy Awards despite 16-year-old Justin being favourite to scoop the gong at the prestigious music ceremony.

Following the jazz artist's surprise win, false statements and taunts have been added to her Wikipedia page by frustrated fans of the pop sensation.

After a sentence noting her triumph, for example, a user added the statement; "Justin Bieber deserved it go die in a hole. Who the heck are you anyway?"

Other comments - which were posted before being quickly removed - included the singer's middle name being changed to "Justin" and "Quesadilla".

Esperanza's Grammy win was written up with the addition, "Even though no one has ever heard of her! Yay!" At the end of her biography one hacker wrote "Biber 4 Lyfe."

Justin's unexpected loss at the music event left him disappointed.

But unlike the Wikipedia user fans, he showed no bitterness backstage at the event. He also asked his fans to remain calm after he missed out on the prize.

"I had no clue what was going to happen; I worked really hard these past few years and you know, I'm not going to lie - I was disappointed," he told MTV News after the winner had been announced.

"I'm inspired to work harder than I did last year. Bieber fans, don't get too upset."

Asked for comment on the Wiki rage, Spalding's rep told CNN that is was "a shame, really. Justin [Bieber] was very, very nice. They met at the AP booth...he was very gracious and they had a nice chat."

Bieber, despite his disappointment, was the perfect gentleman when he met Spalding backstage at the awards bash - they even complimented each other on their hairdos:

Christina Aguilera forgets the words to the National Anthem at Super Bowl XLV

On Sunday evening Christina Aguilera had the honor of singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl which was held at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Texas.

After finishing the sentence “Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,” Aguilera sang «What so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last gleaming,” instead of “O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming.”

Aguilera who is rumored to be devastated by the mistake rapidly released a statement which read:

” I got so caught up in the moment of the song that I lost my place.” “I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through.”

What do you think did the "true spirit anthem still came through." or did she just blow it and over sing the rest?
