Could PJ Harvey front a Nirvana reunion?

As originally posted by http://www.nme.com/news/dave-grohl/69312#FUkgeezFEghYwbGA.99

Dave Grohl has revealed that he asked PJ Harvey to join the remaining Nirvana members on stage to replace Kurt Cobain.

Speaking in this week's NME, which is on newsstands from today or available digitally, the Foo Fighters frontman said that he approached Harvey to play with his Sound City players – the band featured in his documentary about the California studio where Nirvana recorded 'Nevermind'.

When asked if he would ever cover a Nirvana track live, he said: "Every once in a while we talk about it. For the Sound City gig here in London we were thinking about musicians that we could invite because Stevie Nicks and John Fogerty couldn't make it. Someone came up with the idea of doing a Nirvana song with PJ Harvey. Kurt loved her and we love her and we thought, 'Yeah, what would we do?' I said: 'God, what if we were to do 'Milk It' from 'In Utero' with Polly singing?' We all looked at each other like, 'Woah, that would be amazing…' and then she couldn't do it!"

He continued: "The thing is, it's sacred ground. If we were ever to do something like that it would have to be right because you want to pay tribute. There's a reason Foo Fighters don't do Nirvana songs, and it's a good reason."

Dave Grohl's Sound City Band

This popped up in my news feed this morning - Dave Grohl Sound City Players All-Star Band To Play Sundance Film Fest. I have been enjoying Dave Grohl's radio show 'Dave Grohl Presents Sound City' on the rock.

The Sound City Radio show focus on a specific time period at Sound City telling the story of a recording studio in Van Nuys, CA. After buying the studio’s famously custom-built analog recording console last year, Grohl had the idea to produce a film about its storied history. Bands such as Nirvana,Rage Against the Machine, Slipknot, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Cheap Trick,Guns N Roses and many more recorded there, using that very control board for the past 40 years.
Episode one covers 1970-75 and features music from artists like Neil Young, Elton John and Fleetwood Mac. The episodes go up to 2011, with music from Tom Petty, Santana, the Grateful Dead, Jimmy Eat World, Metallica, Arctic Monkeys and Grohl's former group Nirvana, who recorded some of their seminal Nevermind at Sound City.

Now I here that Dave Grohl has announced the first live show from the Sound City Players on the Sound City film Facebook. Grohl said, “Hey guess what? Sound City Players. Rock Show. Jan. 18th Park City Live. Yup. That’s totally happening.” This will coincide with the Sound City film’s premiere at the Sundance film festival. It is not known who will actually be part of the band/perform with Grohl, but the Sound City soundtrack includes: Krist Novoselic, Pat Smear, Paul McCartney, Josh Homme, Trent Reznor, Stevie Nicks, Tim Commerford, Brad Wilk, Corey Taylor, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Rick Springfield, and others.
