Fun Fact #14
The song ‘Spirit In The Sky’ has been taken to number one in the UK on three separate occasions by three different artists. Norman Greenbaun, who wrote the song, released the original in 1970, followed by Doctor and the Medics version in 1986. Gareth Gates took the song to the top spot in 2003.
Rebecca Black's "song" Friday exposes our biggest city with over 58,000,000 (that's 58 million) hits.
Auckland is digitally added to the background when her and her friends are "singing" (or at least giving the autotune a workout) in the back seat (in the back seat) at 7:45,she's drivin’ on the highway
cruisin’ so fast.
With all those viewers, let's hope we see more visitors flocking to Auckland to record their own auto tune fantasy.
You can just see these sitting above the fire place. With Granny in her rocking chair, tattoos sagging, deaf as a post from the years of metal music turned up to 11, watching re-runs of Ozy's reality TV show.
http://www.gibson.com - A highly sought Nirvana EP that was released only in Australia is getting a second run. The influential band’s Hormoaning EP will be re-released on Record Store Day, April 16, according to NME.com.

The re-released edition of Hormoaning will be limited to 6,000 copies at independent record stores.

“Molly’s Lips” (The Vaselines)
Rebecca Black, a 13-year-old girl from America who "loves to sing, dance and act", released her first single, Friday, last month. In the past two days, the single - which includes the lyrics "yesterday was Thursday, Thursday/Today is Friday, Friday" and "tomorrow is Saturday, and Sunday comes afterwards" - has more than doubled its hits on YouTube, racking up views of over 13 million!!!!!.
It has also spawned a series of parody videos and remixes. But why all the fuss? According to general consensus, Friday could well be the worst song ever written.
Released by independent LA record label ARK Music Factory, the single is heavily produced and Black's vocals have been auto-tuned to the hilt, giving the Black Eyed Peas and T-Pain a run for their money.
The lyrics are simple and repetitive ("Friday, Friday, Friday") and not even germaticaly correct (We We We so excited!), the beat is monotonous and the inclusion of an unknown rapper attempting to give the track an injection of street cred only hampers the song's efforts at becoming a likeable hit.
Rebecca Black - Friday. Is this the worst song ever?
7am, waking up in the morning
Gotta be fresh, gotta go downstairs
Gotta have my bowl, gotta have cereal
Seein’ everything, the time is goin’
Tickin’ on and on, everybody’s rushin’

1977 Marvel Kiss Comic Book Cover. (Notice at the bottom of page saying "Printed in real Kiss blood"
In 1977 Marvel Comics and Kiss decided to do a series of comics called "Super Special Kiss". To ensure that the comic would sell well, Marvel and Kiss came up with a great marketing campaign. The comic would be printed in real Kiss blood. On February 21st, 1977 the band's blood was collected at the Nassau Coliseum and delivered to Borden Ink Plant in Depew, New York. Kiss made a special appearance at the plant and mixed their blood into the red ink.
The inaugural Grassroots event - which was to be held over Easter Weekend on Puhinui Peninsula, Auckland and featured iconic artists BB King, Grace Jones, Elvis Costello and Ben Harper - has been canceled due to poor ticket sales, because of the Christchurch quake
Promoter Manolo Echave told Stuff.co.nz Christchurch's devastating 6.3 earthquake had directly affected ticket sales to the point where launching a new two-day festival was no longer feasible.
It's the latest in a string of gig cancellations - but most shows have been pulled from earthquake-ravaged Christchurch,. Some of the artists that have pulled out of Christchurch include Queens of the Stone Age, Carlos Santana, Weird Al Yankovic, Kyuss, Michelle Shocked, Mavis Staples, Donavon Frankenreiter, Stan Walker and Justin Townes Earle all pulled out of their Christchurch shows following the quake which you could understand with venues and faculties being out of order. But their wasn't a Quake in Auckland.
This comes as 6000 people attend Legends of league at Auckland's Mount Smart Stadium fund raiser.
Maybe if they donate some of the proceeds to Christchurch ticket sales would pick up?
What do you think? Should they have canceled the festival because of poor ticket sales or tried to turn it in to a fundrasier for Christchurch?
According to his own website he hasn't spoken to anyone about retiring but then goes on to say he is "calling it a day" I guess only time will tell if he will call it quites for good.
http://www.philcollins.co.uk - "Greetings to all, I've decided to write this in response to the articles that surfaced last weekend regarding my retirement. Why they were printed at all is a mystery, as I haven't spoken to anybody in the press for a few months.
However, many of the articles printed over the last few months have ended up painting a picture of me that is more than a little distorted. Therefore, I would like to add my comments and try to explain again my reasons for calling it a day.
1/ I'm not stopping because of dodgy reviews or bad treatment in the press.
2/ I'm not stopping because I don't feel loved, I know I still have a very large fanbase that loves what I do. Thank you.
3/ I'm not stopping because I don't fit in, this was proved with "Going Back" reaching No 1 in the UK, and doing incredibly well worldwide.
4/ I'm not stopping so I can dive full time into my interest for the Alamo.
I am stopping so I can be a full time father to my two young sons on a daily basis.
Some of the things mentioned above have been said by me in various interviews, but said as asides with a smile on my face and in passing. They were not meant to be "headlines", they were small parts of a conversation. This clearly doesn't come over in print and I should know better.
However, the result is that I have ended up sounding like a tormented weirdo who thinks he was at the Alamo in another life, who feels very sorry for himself, and is retiring hurt because of the bad press over the years.
None of this is true.

The change in name follows a battle with former drummer Shelton Woolright over rights to the band’s name. Woolright left Blindspott following the band’s break up in 2007 and is now a member of the UK based I Am Giant. A case has been set down for hearing in Auckland District Court on March 24 to determine if the band can use the name.
Blindspott lead singer Damian Alexander said attempts of "a resolution of any goodwill" had failed and he and fellow band members, Marcus Powell, Gareth Fleming, Karl Vilisini and Tristan Reilly, were taking court action "reluctantly".
"It sucks actually. We're doing this for the love of the music and for our fans…We want to keep contributing to NZ in some way, it's very humbling and we just want to keep doing it…"

smosh.com has come up with a list of songs they would like to be "Gleed"
One of the reasons Glee is so popular is that they cover so many cool songs—except for this season’s Britney Spears tribute show. But lately, their covers have been kind of boring…are they running out of ideas? They’ve even gotten desperate enough to have Bieber on the show. What’s next, Nickelback?
It’s time to shake things up again. I'd like to somehow convince the show’s producers that I know what’s best for Glee and nominate these songs for their consideration.
1. Lindsay Lohan’s “Rumors”
A LiLo cover (maybe even two or three!) would be an awesome framework for an episode in which Quinn becomes an alcoholic, goes to jail, goes to rehab and beats up a few nurses. I bet parents everywhere would LOVE that episode, especially if kids wrote “f*ck you” on their nails.
2. Ozzy Osbourne’s “Suicide Solution”
So many Ozzy songs would be perfect for the chipper little Glee kids, but I think 1980’s “Suicide Solution” wins for its uplifting lyrics: Evil thoughts and evil doings / Cold, alone you hang in ruins / Thought you'd escape the reaper / You can't escape the master keeper. And how cool would it be if Artie dressed up as Ozzy and ripped the head off a rat with his bare teeth and ate it?
3. Sir MixaLot’s “Baby Got Back”
I bet your mom would TOTALLY love an episode about guys who like girls with big butts! For some reason, I see Sue Sylvester singing it…
4. Barney’s “I Love You”
The Glee kids could do a little Stuffie cosplay and scare little kids by singing “I Love You” on a special episode in which the cast attends a Plushie convention in Vegas. Let’s just hope they aren’t the kind of Stuffies who like to “do it” in costume…
5. NWA’s “F--- the Police”
Universally condemned as the most shocking rap song ever recorded, “F--- the Police” has been banned just about everywhere—NWA even got an FBI smackdown. Puck would rock this song, though they'd have to change some of the lyrics like they did with the Cee Lo Green's song.
6. Marilyn Manson’s “Antichrist Superstar”
Covering a Marilyn Manson tune or two would make Glee really popular with Goths, most of whom probably find the show far too cheerful. “Antichrist Superstar” would be perfect because parents would happy their kids were learning about the dangers of the antichrist. It’s a twofer!
7. The Brady Bunch’s “Sunshine Day”
A Brady Bunch tribute episode is totally in Glee’s future, so I’m going to scoop the story now: Westdale High School is up for action because they can’t pay the back taxes, and the glee club must raise $20,000 to save the school from Sue Sylvester’s nefarious plan to turn it into a year-round cheer camp. Just in the nick of time, the kids learn about a singing contest whose first prize is the exact amount of money they need. Quinn would play Marsha, Finn would play Greg, and Rachel, of course, would play Jan.
8. Eminem’s “Kim”
We think a romantic cover of this song would be perfect for Kurt. Just think how beautiful his high tenor would sound when he sings: Now bleed! B*tch bleed! / Bleed! B*tch bleed! bleed!
9. Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg’s “Mother Lover”
Since mothers don’t play a big part on the show, they’d have to adjust the song so Kurt sings about Finn’s mom and Finn sings about Kurt’s dad.
10. Tribute Show to Flava Flav
Best. Tribute. Episode. Ever. The kids could cover all the high points of Flav’s career, including his appearances on The Surreal Life and Flavor of Love. Since Amber is the only black person in the Glee cast, she’d have to play Flava. She’s going to look darned weird making out with Sue Sylvester, who would play Brigitte Nielsen…
Several locks of Justin Bieber's hair are being sold on internet auction site eBay by Ellen DeGeneres for charity. The auction is due to close 2 March (Mar 02, 2011 10:32:26 PST) so get your bids biebes in!
The pop star recently had his famous locks cut and they are now listed on the internet auction site with the current top bid well over $10,000
The locks are being sold by Ellen DeGeneres who received some of his hair - which is encased in a Plexiglas box that has been signed by the 'Baby' singer - as a gift when he appeared on her talk show this week.
As he handed the strands over to Ellen - who had previously written on her twitter page that she wanted some of his hair - he said: "That's my hair. I'm giving pieces of it to different people. We're doing something special. We want you to donate it to whatever charity you want to."
Ellen is donating all proceeds from the auction to animal rescue foundation The Gentle Barn.
Justin decided to change his trademark hairstyle ahead of his 17th birthday next Tuesday (01.03.11).
